MICROTYPE - PAWS

(Student Directions)

• Double click on the MicroType Folder.
• Click on File and drag down to New Record
• Type in your name. Do not enter a password. Click on OK.
• Click on Lessons, select Home Keys, slide the mouse to the right and select Learn Home Keys. (You are ready to begin. Read and follow the directions.)
• To save your work: Click on File and select Save Record.
• Choose your file folder, type in Paws and click on Save.
• Click on File and select Quit.

• Double click on the MicroType Folder.
• Click on File and select Open.
• Click on PAWS and click on Open.
• Click on Lessons and continue where you left off. (There will be a bullet in front of each lesson item you have completed.)
• When you are finished, click on File and select Save Record.
• Click on File and select Quit.

(Teacher Directions)

If you would like to change the words per minute goal speed.

• Open the MicroType folder.
• Click on File and drag down to New Record
• When the screen asking for name and password appears, use this information:

  NAME: teacher

  PASSWORD: apple ¹

• The last symbol is made by holding down the option key and typing p.
• Click on OK. You are now able to change the goal speed for individual lessons.
• This must be done for each machine.

A printing option is available under File: Print Report. Students can be asked to print reports before quitting the program when requested by the teacher.
